FatalI’m really looking forward to the interview chatting with my pal Jeff Ayers on Blogtalk Radio tonight (January 10). Jeff’s a perceptive, smart, and witty guy, and I’m pretty sure we’ll have ourselves a heap of fun exploring some of the many facets of the creative process, and particularly as they apply to my new, stand-alone novel, FATAL, whose publication date (January 24) is rapidly approaching.

Best, John

FATAL Release Dinner with John Lescroart at Carpe Vino

If you are planning to pre-order my latest thriller, FATAL, here’s yet another excellent opportunity to do so!

New York Times best-selling author John Lescroart will host a prix-fixe dinner at Carpe Vino in Auburn on January 29 to celebrate the release of Fatal, and the cost of a copy is included in the price of the event (one book per couple or single participant). A lifelong gourmet and wine enthusiast, Lescroart created the menu for “Fatal” in collaboration with Carpe Vino Executive Chef Eric Alexander. The pair also teamed up to select wine pairings for each of the four courses of the dinner.

An acknowledged Francophile, Lescroart’s inspiration for this prix-fixe foray is the classic French bistro, so dishes are familiar, yet refined through Chef Alexander’s interpretation. The risotto course is Lescroart’s personal creation, however, a preparation featuring duck confit and Amarena black cherries imported from Italy.

Fatal, which will be released on January 23, is Lescroart’s 27th book, this one, “. . .a riveting standalone novel about the unexpected, shattering, and lethal consequences of a one-night stand on a seemingly happily married couple,” according to according to pre-release publicity. Set in the Bay Area, Fatal is “an explosive story of infidelity, danger, and moral ambiguity, John Lescroart’s latest thriller will excite and satisfy both his current and new fans.”

There is nothing “morally ambiguous” about “Fatal: Dinner with John Lescroart.” Here’s the menu and wine pairings that are as intense and passionate as a Lescroart novel:

First Course: Tuna tartare. . .

Second Course: Risotto á la Lescroart, Amarena black cherries, duck confit, radicchio. 2014 Cherry Tart Pinot Noir

Third course: Boeuf Bourguignon. . .

Dessert: Profiteroles. . .

A welcome reception with Mr. Lescroart starts at 6:15 p.m., with dinner served at 7. Cost is $120 per person, inclusive of wine pairings and a copy of Fatal; tax and tip are extra. Carpe Vino is located in Old Town Auburn. Reservations are limited and taken by phone only; call 530-823-0320.

“We were very fortunate to convince an author of Mr. Lescroart’s fame to come to Auburn and host a dinner,” said Carpe Vino co-owner Gary Moffat. “After meeting him at a SacBee Book Club event, though, because of his love of food and wine, I thought he might say ‘yes.'”

Creator of the Dismas Hardy series, 18 of Mr. Lescroart’s novels have made the New York Times best-seller list. He lives in Yolo County.

In The Press

If you haven’t yet checked out these articles, here are a few of my appearances in the press from this past year!

John Lescroart keeps the thrills coming
Sacramento Bee, December 2016

John Lescroart opened the front door of his vintage white bungalow in a leaf-strewn Davis neighborhood and welcomed a visitor inside. The house – one of several properties he owns in Northern California – is the innocuous “writing room” he occupies when he’s working on his next book, which is most of the time.

John Lescroart of Davis will have a few things to say
Sacramento Bee, November 2016

THE FALL is centered on “the case of an inner-city girl who plunges to her death from an overpass into traffic below. Did she fall – or was she pushed?” It’s the Sacramento Bee Book Club’s choice for December.

Prolific thriller author John Lescroart loves the life of a professional writer
Savannah Now, February 2016

“You’ve got to show up every day,” he says. “Everyone says I’m so prolific, but I write every day because that is what I do. You don’t get plumber’s block if you’re a plumber. I’m my own boss and I’m always at someone’s beck and call.”

John Lescroart wins Silver Bullet Award
The Davis Enterprise, January 2016

International bestselling novelist and Davis resident John Lescroart says he was “completely bowled over, knocked out, flattered and shocked!” to be informed that he’d won the 2016 Silver Bullet Award.
