John Lescroart Welcome to my web page!

It's been an extremely busy couple of months here on the home front. First of all, my 21st novel, TREASURE HUNT, came out in January and debuted at #8 on the New York Times Bestseller List. I want to thank all of you for your support in helping this book thrive in a very challenging publishing environment. I had a whole lot of promotional opportunities in the first weeks after TREASURE HUNT, including a 30-city satellite radio tour, a real nice NPR appearance on San Francisco's Forum program, and personal appearances in several California locations as well Scottsdale, AZ, and Houston, TX. By the way, TREASURE HUNT is still out in your local independent or even chain bookstore, and it's also available on Amazon, so if you haven't gotten your copy yet, by no means is it too late. Nothing like a book for a great Mothers'/Fathers'/Birth/day present!!

Treasure Hunt Otherwise, I've been in frantic "work mode" on my next book, CARNAGE. As the name implies, it's a bit of a hard-hitting story that centers around what happens when bad people get let out of jail—either through technicalities in the appeal process or because of prison overcrowding. Given the actual situation in California, I don't think this book could be more timely. They talk about books that are "torn from the headlines," and CARNAGE is already fitting quite neatly into that category. This one is going to feature mostly Abe Glitsky and Wes Farrell, a la A CERTAIN JUSTICE, and GUILT, although Dismas Hardy has so far made one surprise appearance, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he shows up a few more times.

It's never too early to start talking about the next paperback release, so I wanted to have you all be on the lookout for the paperback release of A PLAGUE OF SECRETS, due out in June. We've got a couple of pretty cool ideas about "secrets" that we'll be teasing you with both here on my webpage and on my Facebook page in the next couple of months. And speaking of Facebook, we're having a lot of fun with that—what with the Book of the Month Club, and Tuesday Tidbits, and some pretty interesting chatboards, to say nothing of March Madness which is beginning right now. If you're not already a fan on my Facebook page and are interested in becoming one, just look over to your left here and click on the Facebook picture. I invite all of you to join—I think you'll be glad you did.

Finally, just one last reminder that the fishing/mystery anthology entitled Hook, Line & Sinister comes out early next month, featuring many of the great names in mystery—Michael Connelly, T. Jefferson Parker, and many others. My own story, Unsnaggable, is here, too, and I hope you all enjoy it.

Well, if I want to get CARNAGE finished by its deadline of April 1, I'd better get back to work on it.

Best wishes,
John Lescroart
